Day one of the second Ashes Test at Lord's, the home of cricket. Sure, we were all looking forward to day one of the first Test at Trent Bridge, but I think that THIS was really the day we have most been looking forward to, being such an historical and elusive venue for cricketers around the world.

It was everything I had imagined - an almost spiritual experience - walking into this 'sacred' place I had heard so many stories about. Well-dressed men walking around in their red and gold striped jackets and ties, passers-by chatting merrily in their perfectly refined British accents.. it almost felt like a step back in time.

The ground itself was packed to the rafters, tickets having sold out in minutes when they first became available earlier this year. Even as someone who doesn't particularly consider themselves to be a die-hard cricket fan it is these factors alone that weigh heavily on my appreciation for being here.

The player's families box is situated right alongside the Cricket Australia VIP area where our former Australian Prime Minister John Howard has been seated all day. There are whispers among the girls that Hugh Jackman will also make an appearance in the box during the week so as you might imagine, our excitement is at fever pitch!

Being one of the pinnacle days of our tour (and perhaps a few glasses of Pimms another contributing factor) I'm finding it difficult to muster the appropriate words that could best describe the atmosphere and the emotion of simply being here. Hopefully the photos we've been uploading to this blog (for those on Instagram you can follow us @TourDeAshes) can do it a greater justice.
