Ladies and gentlemen, the Australian Cricket Team have left for England! After a very public farewell in the Qantas Hangar at Sydney airport, the Aussies landed in London overnight for what's going to be a long, arduous and exciting few months ahead. I woke up to discover many of the girls posting teary farewell photos on Instagram as they bid bon voyage to their partners for the next few months. Fortunately though, the majority of them will be reunited with their loved ones in England during our 'visitor period' in July, when Cricket Australia has generously offered to fly all of the player's families over for a visit.

Today my thoughts are especially with the Haddin family. It's Brad Haddin's youngest son Hugo's first birthday tomorrow and it's going to be an especially long three months ahead for them as Karina (Brad's wife) and their three young children are not able to fly over to see Brad at all while he's away (there was a lovely article about their incredibly difficult year printed in The Age last weekend that you can read here).

Karina is far from bitter - in fact she is the exact opposite. An inspirational and ever positive woman, she recently gushed how unbelievably proud of Brad she was and how thrilled she was that he was selected to go on this tour. I do honestly believe she wouldn't want things any other way. I don't know if I could be as sympathetic if it were me stuck at home with three kids for three months while Ed was overseas living out his dream.
