Sunday 4th August, 2013

Whilst things are beginning to wind down for some of the girls who've travelled on this tour so far, there's still much work to be done for the Australian cricket team. Despite losing the first two of five Ashes matches, we are still very much in contention to win back that monumental urn and for the girls, having to leave at such a critical time can often make it all the more difficult. Yesterday Keira blogged about flying home and having to leave her other half Matt Cenin (CA's Media Manager) behind. Matt won't be home for another seven weeks.

Alyssa (Mitch Starc's better half) also left us on Saturday morning to join the Australian women's cricket team, the Southern Stars in London. They've got a massive Ashes campaign of their own to look forward to in the coming weeks and I've already penned in their match at Lord's on the 20th August as one I plan to attend. Keep an eye on this blog for a special guest post by Mitch in the coming days - he's promised to write about his adventures of being a 'HAB' (Husbands And Boyfriends)!

At 32 weeks pregnant and almost no longer legally allowed to fly, Mel very reluctantly left today. I feel especially sorry for her having to be separated from Nathan (Lyon) at such an important time in their lives. Back at home she'll have to spend most of the last few weeks of her pregnancy without Nath, organising many of those special last minute baby things by herself - extra challenging given that she and Nath have only just moved to Sydney from South Australia.

Kayla (James Pattinson) and Madi (Ashton Agar) are also Australia-bound some time in the next 24 hours though luckily for Kayla, she'll be accompanied home by her injured beau. By the time the rest of us arrive in Durham for the fourth Test this week, our original girls tour group of fifteen or so will be halved, though thankfully the remaining ladies on tour will all now be staying on right through until the end. There's still much to achieve from a cricket-perspective so we'll be looking to make the most of the next few weeks.
