You may have read elsewhere on this blog that our tour group is like a traveling family-away-from-home. I often (affectionately) refer to our group as 'the traveling circus' - a bunch of random people all thrown together in a big melting pot, expected to get along and 'make things work'. Fortunately our present touring party blends effortlessly together and we all enjoy each others company - a bonus when you're flying internationally with these people, taking long bus trips with them, living in the same hotels and spending all day together at the cricket.

Most of us eat breakfast together, usually in the hotel restaurant (for the more curious readers, I didn't take too much notice of what Michael Clarke was having for brekkie this morning but realistically this hotel doesn't offer much more than the standard cereal or toast). The girls often don't show face at breakfast until after the boys have left for the day, so if you're an early riser around the hotel you'll usually only see the boys (and little Romy too - Ed takes her to brekkie each morning so that I can have a peaceful shower).

On Wednesday, all of the players, partners and support staff came together for a trivia night. There were six tables of six people each, four of the tables were 'boys' and the remaining two tables were made up of 'girls'. It was a really fun night co-ordinated and hosted by the team doctor and provided a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get to know each other just a little bit better in a relaxed and social environment. In case you're wondering, the team of Brad Haddin, Steve Smith and various CA support staff came first - our 'girls' table came a close second.

Today at the Sussex County Cricket Ground where the third Australian tour match was being played, my tour buddies and I mingled in a marquee kindly set up for us amongst many of the other corporates enjoying a day at the cricket. A few times, random people would wander into our roped off area seeking autographs and photos which I find a touch embarrassing (we're no Liz Hurley or Victoria Beckham-types!). As I sat next to Rod Marsh, one man pushed his way in and asked if we were the partners of the Australian cricket team - always an awkward question to answer, damned if you do and damned if you don't. We've since decided that from now on, for a bit of fun, we'll respond with "no, we're all Rod Marsh's daughters" (I hope this is okay with you, Ros!!)... that works, doesn't it? We are a 'cricket family' afterall!
